Ren Martin-Doike - Viola

"Originally from Honolulu, violist Ren Martin-Doike is a versatile and passionate performer on a mission to captivate audiences around the world. She has toured and performed throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia both as a soloist and as a member of numerous ensembles including the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, the Benny Rietveld Jazz Quintet, and Duo RenJi.  The winner of the Maurice Ravel Foundation Competition's String Quartet Prize, as well as a chamber music prize from the Conservatoire Américain à Fontainebleau, Ms. Martin-Doike has enjoyed musical collaborations with members of the Johannes and Dover String Quartets as well as with Philadelphia Orchestra Concertmaster David Kim, among others.  

As principal viola of the Curtis 20/21 Chamber Orchestra, she went on tour with Jennifer Koh and Jaime Laredo as a part of their Two x Four Project, which resulted in a multi-Grammy Award nominated album on the Cedille Label. Ms. Martin-Doike has played with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and served as principal viola of the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, and the New York String Orchestra.   

 A former Harriet Hale Woolley Scholar and Musician in Residence at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris, Ms. Martin-Doike is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and is currently pursuing her Master's studies at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris."
